Big wins for St Pius, North Georgetown
THERE were big wins for St Pius and North Georgetown Secondary when action in the Smalta Girls Pee Wee Football competition continued at the Ministry of Education ground.
Action in rounds three and four of the competition yesterday featured St Pius striking six goals past St Margaret’s in the third match, recording the biggest margin of victory of the day.
The effort was led by a brace from Anthea Braithwaite (10th and 13th) while Marissa Frank (1st), Christal Archer (8th), Tehanna Mendonca (28th) and Shevon John (30th) were all on target.
On the opposing pitch, North Georgetown beat Smith Memorial 2-0, thanks to Martha Chance (22nd and 25th).
The day’s opening match pitted South Ruimvedlt against St Stephen’s with the former winning 2-1. Fayon Harry’s double in the (4th and 13th) pivoted the game in favour of South after which Sara Williams scored a consolation goal.
Genesis Harmony won match 8 via walkover from Mae’s.
Enterprise were also winners on the day, snagging a 2-0 win over F.E. Pollard thanks to Audain Denita (14th) and Allegra Williams (28th) while Shellon David helped West Ruimveldt thump Tucville 1-0.
In Round four, Genesis Harmony were 1-0 victors over St Stephen’s thanks to Gasella Williams (13th) with South Ruimvedlt gaining a walkover from Mae’s.
North Georgetown clobbered St Margaret’s in the other match thanks to a hat- trick from Martha Chance (8th, 10th and 15th) while Talia Tappin had a 12th minute strike.
St Pius also registered a 2-0 win over Smith Memorial thanks to a brace from Christal Archer (14th and 37th).
West Ruimveldt had to fight F.E. Pollard for their 3-1 win. Ashanna Rajcumar’s second minute goal opened the scoring for the eventual winners before Seona France doubled the lead.
F.E. Pollard had Akila Samuels give them a scare when she scored in the 16th but Teneshia Persaud (21st) put the game to bed.
Enterprise were also winners against Tucville thanks to a single strike from Allegra Williams (24th).
