A MAN is currently in police custody after he allegedly discharged a firearm at Vryheid’s Lust South, East Coast Demerara early Sunday morning.

According to a release, about 01:50hrs on the day in question the police patrol responded to a report of a male discharging a firearm in Vryheid’s Lust South area. When the ranks arrived in the area the suspect spotted the cops and fled.

However, he was shortly after apprehended on the Better Hope Public Road, also on the ECD, and a search of his person revealed two live rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The release said an investigation is in progress, but that the suspect is not cooperating.
