POLICE are investigating a fatal accident which occurred in the wee hours of Friday morning on the Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
The accident involved motor lorry GRR 6081 driven by a resident of Beterverwagting Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara and an unidentified motorcyclist.

Enquiries disclosed that the lorry was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of the road, whilst the motorcyclist was proceeding north along the access road (on the southern side of the public road) reportedly at a fast rate of speed. The motorcyclist suddenly turned east onto the public road, lost control and collided with the lorry’s right side.

As a result of the impact, the man fell onto the road and his head came into contact with the vehicle’s rear right wheel.

The body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting identification and a post-mortem.

The driver of the lorry, who passed a breathalyzer test, is in custody assisting with the investigation.
