A 44-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a six-year-old child. The perpetrator, identified as Selwyn Lancaster, was arrested on Tuesday night after the mother of the child filed a complaint.

Reports indicate that the incident, which involved oral sex, took place at the home of the child’s mother. Lancaster is a friend of the mother of the child and would frequent the family’s home.

On the day in question, it is alleged that Lancaster visited the home and after having a conversation with the mother in the yard where she was doing chores, he made his way into the house and then to the verandah area, where the six-year-old girl and her 10-year-old sibling were playing.

It was there Lancaster allegedly exposed himself to the younger child and reportedly forced the child to perform oral sex on him.

In 2011, Lancaster was accused of stealing clothing and haberdashery from a Chinese garment store which was destroyed by fire in Linden.

Police said Lancaster was also a suspect in the alleged arson in which a Digicel Store was burnt down.
