SOME eight acres of cultivated cannabis with about 7,600 plants ranging in height from five inches to six feet and weighing 15,025 kilograms were destroyed during two recent drug-eradication exercises at Kimbia, Berbice River and Onderneeming, Essequibo.

The police in a release said during the operations, some 82 kilograms of processed cannabis were also found.

No arrest has been made thus far in relation to the finds; but investigators are making efforts to apprehend several persons who discharged rounds at them at Kimbia and escaped in the thick vegetation; they behind 20 live cartridges which have been lodged.
