GBTI GCC Tigers continued to storm through the women’s first division competition of the GTT National Indoor Hockey Championships with an 8-0 trouncing of Saints on Thursday evening.

The dominance of the GBTI ladies is evident as they have not conceded any goals in their first three matches, winning each of them by a minimum of four goals. The Saints men managed their first win of the men’s first division competition by squeezing past Supernova by 2-1.

With an easy deflection goal in the second minute by Aliyah Gordon, after a well-constructed build-up, GBTI GCC Tigers seemed well on their way to another dominant victory over Saints.

The girls in grey, however, put up a spirited show against the powerful national champions and held GCC scoreless for the next ten minutes. While GBTI ladies seemed a bit scrappy in their approach, they finally got themselves back together and it was a plethora of goals from there.

Vanessa Pires and Marzana Fiedtkou scored in the 12th and 20th minutes to amass a halftime score for GCC of 3-0. In the second half, it was all GBTI GCC again as they drove home five more unanswered goals for the easy victory.

Supernova, comprising a national Under-19 selection, were first on the score sheet against Saints when prolific goalscorer Warren Williams converted a penalty corner in the 3rd minute. Saints drew even just before the half through the diminutive Hilton Chester and then go one up to seal the win by a Nickel Ashby field goal in the 25th minute.
GCC continued a dominant evening of ladies hockey when GBTI GCC Spice edged the Woodpecker Hikers 1-0 in the women’s second division competition while Bingo GCC Spartans blanked Saints by 2-0.

Old Fort Mustangs continued their unbeaten run in the veterans division by burying Antonio’s Hikers, 7-4 while GCC Pitbulls got their first victory in the men’s second division with a 4-2 win over the Hikers Cadets.

Pepsi Hikers and Old Fort Lamborghini lead the men’s first division table with 6 points each with Bounty GCC and Saints in a tie for third spot on 3 points.
GBTI GCC Ladies have 9 points to top the women’s first division table so far with Woodpecker Hikers on 6 while Old Fort 2.1.2 and Bingo GCC Spartans share third place with 3 points each.

In the two-pool men’s second division competition, Old Fort Top Form lead Pool A with 6 points while Old Fort Rogue top pool B with 4. GBTI GCC Spice head the second division table with 9 points followed by Bingo GCC Spartans 7, Saints 3 and Woodpecker Hikers 1.
