FOUR months after Collin Denny was freed from a $28M drug trafficking charge, he found himself before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on a fresh charge.

Denny, a 38-year-old Baker of Howes Street, Charlestown, is accused of trafficking 2.366 kilograms of cannabis on September 26, 2018 at Church Street, Georgetown.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge while his lawyer, George Thomas, made application for bail.

Thomas told the court that the alleged narcotics was not found in his client’s possession but rather on the driver of a minibus but the Custom Anti-Narcotics ranks connected the drugs to Denny.

CANU prosecutor, Kunyo Sandiford told the court that the lawyer claims differ since Denny was arrested before the driver. She further pointed out that there is surveillance footage showing Denny handing the drugs over to the driver.

Sandiford objected to Denny being released on bail citing the seriousness of the charge and also Denny was under surveillance by CANU.

The Chief Magistrate, after considering the prosecutions objections, remanded Denny to prison until October 15.

In May, Denny and his reputed wife, Malika Softleigh, were freed by Magistrate Judy Latchman from a drug trafficking charge due to insufficient evidence.
