FORMER head of the Roman Catholic Church here, Guyanese-born Bishop Benedict Singh, was on Monday accorded a sendoff befitting a man of his stature.
The service was held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Brickdam, where he served for 32 years before demitting office and passing on the mantle to his successor, Bishop Francis Alleyne of Trinidad & Tobago.
Bishop Singh, the first Guyanese to have ever held such a post, died here last Wednesday at 90, reportedly after a brief illness.
