Shortly after 21:00hrs on Monday night a resident of Sophia  was severely beaten by fellow villagers after he reportedly managed to lure an underaged girl into his house and attempted to rape her.

It was reported that residents armed themselves with multiple objects and at least some persons within the angry group tried to sever the man’s private parts while inflicting a sound beating on his person.

The man was left lying in a bloodied state on the roadway. He was later rescued by the police.

The police later took the man away to the hospital.
