MATTHEW Truelove, one of Team Mohamed’s Enterprise riders in this year’s Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) was focussed on resetting the Bushy Park circuit record in Barbados.

He told the media  on Sunday that while claiming the championship might have been one of his aims, his main aim was to reset the super-stock record, set by teammate Bryce Prince last year.

Truelove, who now leads the championship with his sixth straight win said, “The main goal was to get the lap record of Bryce [Prince] and try and stretch it as much as we could.”

The old record of 1:01.910 was eclipsed in race one with 1:01.7 and later in race two with a 1:01.542.

“On the Saturday to be fair, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do it but I knew after a night’s sleep, I’d be able to come back fresher and to go as much as we’d done and I was quite surprised because I didn’t have to push too hard for it. I felt quite comfortable and relaxed.”

It was a good battle. That’s what I was hoping for really; close competition really, lacked that a little bit in Trinidad, so it’s good to come here and battle with him for most of the race,” He added.

The British rider continued “I just managed to get away a little bit because it had me worried for a while and I would have had to answer questions of why I’d been beaten by my little brother, but I managed to keep that away and take all three wins.”

Meanwhile, his brother Harry, who finished second on all three occasions, said that he was happy to be given one of the Team Mohamed’s bikes to ride.

I knew that I was a little bit off matt and I knew that if I kept on It, I would really give him a battle,” said younger brother Harry.

He afterwards conceded that his older brother was ‘a little two quick’ for him.  In the end, they finished one and two in all three of the races.
