Update : Voting at PNCR Biennial Congress at halfway stage

A party source inside the PNCR’s Biennial Congress at Sophia has confirmed to the Guyana Chronicle that the counting of votes, which are in excess of 800 , is at the halfway stage in  elections for chairmanship for the party.

Returning Officer, Mr. Hewley Griffith is in the process of tallying and it is hoped that the process would be completed before midnight.

Also, the PNCR rally that was scheduled to begin at the Stabroek Square for 18:30 hours on Sunday will no longer see President David Granger delivering the feature address. Instead, Minister of Public Affairs, Dawn Hastings will be at the event.

Providing an update to members of the media , Director of Sport and candidate for the Vice Chairman post Christopher Jones disclosed that the counting was ongoing. He said he is confident that he would secure the the position of Vice Chair.

Incumbent chairman , Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs , Basil Williams is being challenged by Minister of State , Joseph Harmon and Minister of Public Health , Volda Lawrence for the post of chairman.
