THE partly decomposed body of a woman was found in a shallow grave on Saturday at an interior location in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
According to information reaching the Guyana Chronicle, the woman who might have been murdered and buried there by her reputed husband, was taken to the location to work.
The remains were found at a place called Thomas Island and the discovery was made by two males who were in a boat and encountered a strong stench. The men tracked down the stench, found what appears to be the remains of a female. The men shortly after informed the police of their discovery.
Arriving at the location, the police found the remains of a woman was in a shallow grave and next to the body was a suitcase with clothes, apparently belonging to her.
A 36-year-old Anns Grove man has since been arrested in connection with the discovery.
Reports have so far indicated that the suspect in custody, had taken a woman into the interior location, also it is alleged that he is habitually abusive to women.
