THE skeletal remains, suspected to be those of a woman, were unearthed on “Thomas Island”, Puruni River, Region 7, Cuyuni-Mazaruni, after a security guard of a mining company stumbled upon them recently.

The skeleton was found with a brassiere over the chest region by the security guard who was heading to make a phone call at an internet café in the area.
The police dispatched a team in the area after a report was made and based on information, it appeared that the remains were there for several weeks as wildlife had already picked at the body.

Reports indicate that no one was reported missing in the area.
The police are continuing their investigations.
When contacted, police confirmed that the remains were found and noted that if possible, a post-mortem would still be arranged to determine the cause of death.
