… kicks off on July 27 in Linden

WITH over $2M up for grabs, New Era Entertainment yesterday launched their futsal tournament for teams in Linden with ExxonMobil and Mohamed’s Enterprise as their title sponsors.

The tournament, which involves only teams in Linden, is in its fifth year and according to co-Director Kenrick Noel, has become a ‘staple’ in the Region 10 community. He noted that with sponsors like Mohamed’s Enterprise and now ExxonMobil, it will be around for a very long time.

With more than 20 teams anticipated to participate, the tournament will kick off on July 27 and concludes on August 18, when the winning team will pocket $600 000, second place $250 000 and teams finishing third and fourth will take home $100 000 and $75 000 respectively.

Nazar Mohamed, Managing Director of Mohamed’s Enterprise, added that his entity is more than pleased to be associated with the tournament, and has been on board since its inaugural year.

According to Mohamed, “It’s really an honour for Mohamed’s Enterprise to be a part of this New Era Futsal family. We would appreciate having football played in the right spirit. We are always part of sport with support of the Kashif and Shanghai tournament for over 25 years and we will continue to be part of sport for years to come.”

Rawle Adams, secretary of the Guyana Futsal Association, expressed delight at seeing the tournament being maintained since he believes that Guyana can gain much recognition through football’s shortest format which is usually played indoors.

Meanwhile, Seweon McGregor, representing Ansa McAl and their STAG Beer brand, another company that has been supporting the tournament since its inception, said they are looking forward to July 27 when they can share an experience with the people of Linden.
