A 54-YEAR OLD man of South Road, Georgetown reappeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse on Thursday after he was charged with damage to property and assault.
The man in question, Grenville Gill, also has three other pending matters in the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on May 31, 2018 at Silver Hill, Linden, Gill unlawfully and maliciously damaged one cellular phone valued $20,000, a movable property of private nature, property of Paul D’Oliveira.
It is also alleged that Gill on May 31, 2018 at Silver Hill, Linden, unlawfully assaulted D’Oliveira.
The businessman pleaded not guilty to both charges and was placed on $20,000 bail for each charge by Magistrate Clive Nurse.
However, Gill pleaded with the Magistrate to reduce bail since he was a businessman and had installments to pay in Georgetown.
The plea was denied and the defendant was further remanded to prison by Magistrate Clive Nurse.
Gill previously appeared in court facing three charges for which he was remanded.
The court heard that Gill on May 31, 2018 at Silver Hill Linden in the Upper Demerara River, allegedly unlawfully and maliciously wounded Zena Kissoon.
Gill also faced the charge of allegedly using threatening language to Kissoon whereby a breach of peace was occasioned on May 31, 2018 at Silver Hill, Linden.
It is also alleged that on May 31, 2018 at Silver Hill Linden, Gill used threatening language to Grace Prescod.
Gill pleaded not guilty to all three charges and was remanded to prison after he failed to pay the bail of $50,000.
