THE Guyana People’s Militia commenced training recently for its new soldiers aimed at refining them in a number of areas including marksmanship and drills.

The 44 soldiers are receiving their training on the Standard Infantryman Course 2018-01.
Officer Commanding of the 241 Company, second Infantry Battalion of the Guyana People’s Militia, Major Marvin Chichester in remarks to the students, welcomed them to the Militia and urged them to make good use of their training which puts them in a better position to contribute to the unit.

He also reinforced the Values and Standards of the Force and noted that their adherence contributes directly to the operational competence and military sub-culture of the Guyana Defence Force. He also emphasised the importance of teamwork in satisfying unit goals.
Training began on Monday, June 18 and will continue for another 3 weeks.
