A 17-year-old young man was remanded to prison Thursday by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on two gun-related charges.
It is alleged that on June 13, 2018 at Howes Street, Charlestown, Collin Denny had an unlicensed .32 pistol in his possession, along with one live round of ammunition.
Denny, of Charles and Howes Street, denied the charges of possession of a gun and ammunition without being a licensed firearm holder
His lawyer, Keisha Chase, in her bail application informed the court that Denny had no knowledge and control of the firearm and that her client should be granted a reasonable sum of bail.
According to the facts that were given in court by Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, on the day in question, the police were on patrol when they observed the defendant among other persons. They approached the defendant and conducted a search on him, as a result of which they found the weapon in his crotch and ammunition in the left-side pocket of his pants.
Bail was refused and he was remanded to prison until July 4.
