Chief Justice (ag) Roxane George-Wiltshire has ruled that President David Granger acted constitutionally when he appointed Justice James Patterson as Chairman of the Guyana

Elections Commission.
The People’s Progressive Party had challenged the decision in the High Court, but the Chief Justice ruled in the favour of the state upholding the President’s decision.
In her ruling the Chief Justice said the President has the right to make the appointment and threw out all of the PPP’s arguments among them being Justice Patterson was not fit and proper. Attorney General, Basil Williams hailed the decision as a good day for justice in Guyana. (More details to follow)
