Remanded in the interest of public safety

A DRIVER appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman on Monday on a robbery charge.
It is alleged that on May 29, 2018 at Commerce Street, Georgetown, Marlon Williams robbed Dashni Ramsuke of one gold chain valued $50,000.

The 37-year- old man who resides at ‘B’ Field, Turkeyen denied the charge. The prosecutor objected to bail based on the seriousness of the offence and on the terms of public interest and safety.

According to the prosecutor’s facts, the virtual complainant was walking with a gold chain on her neck when the accused approach her and told her not to make a sound. He grabbed the chain off her neck and ran away. An alarm was raised and the defendant was arrested and positively identified.

Bail was refused and Williams was remanded to prison until June 25, 2018.
