Childless bachelor to stand trial for alleged rape of five-year-old

FIFTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Glendon Alexander, who has been charged with the alleged rape of a minor, was committed to stand trial at the next sitting of the Berbice Assizes, after Senior Magistrate Alex Moore ruled that a prima facie case has been made out against him.

In the New Amsterdam Court, evidence was led through a paper committal, in which it was stated that on January 26, in the County of Berbice, Alexander, a childless bachelor, is alleged to have engaged in sexual penetration with a five-year-old nursery school student.

He was not required to plea and was placed on $200,000 bail pending his trial before a judge and jury.
