A MAN was Friday sentenced to one-year imprisonment by Magistrate Leron Daly after pleading guilty to a break-and-enter charge.

It was alleged that on May 31, 2018 at Pike Street, Kitty, Junior Luther broke and entered the storeroom of Suzette Grant and stole one bicycle valued $8,000; two computer speakers valued $12,000; nine pairs of shoes valued $ 200,000 and other articles valued $30,000 – total value of $268,000.

Luther who has no fixed place of abode pleaded guilty to the charge that was read to him in court.

According to the facts that were presented in court by the police prosecutor Sanj Singh, on the day in question the complainant secured her place and went to work. Later in the day, Grant received a phone call from her neighbour telling her that the accused had broken and entered her home. The neighbour alerted the police and their quick response resulted in the accused being apprehended as he was walking with a black garbage bag in which he had the stolen articles inside.
