POLICE at Mabaruma have arrested a man who allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl this week at a border community in the North West District.

According to reports from Mabaruma, the child was rushed to the hospital in the town for treatment. Her condition was deemed serious and she was air-dashed to the city after doctors observed that she was suffering from internal bleeding.
The suspect remains in custody as the police continue their investigation.
