Floodlight tapeball cricket set for Anna Regina Drying Floor tarmac

AN action-packed evening is anticipated tomorrow at the Anna Regina Drying Floor tarmac in Essequibo.

Members of the Young Achievers Sports Club of Anna Regina will host a 5 Overs-a-Side Tapeball Knockout competition for teams in Region 2.

The popular venue has a concrete pitch and the faster bowlers will enjoy the surface in getting the ball to climb at face height.

On the other hand, batsmen, especially those who can hook well, will relish the opportunity of hitting a few out of the park.

Among the teams expected to participate are Richmond Youths, Cotton Field, Walton Hall, Reliance Hustlers, Affiance, Charity and Mainstay.

Meanwhile, several Essequibo inter-county players are also listed to be in action including Ramesh Narine, Basil Persaud, Narendra Mandolall, Latchmikhant Narine and Grayson Paul. Entrance fee for teams is $5 000 with the first match scheduled for 14:00hrs.

Attractive monetary prizes and trophies will be at stake including best batsman and bowler in the competition. Teams are required to be at the venue by 13.00hrs to be registered, No late entrance will be permitted, according to the organisors who will provide balls and tape for the duration of the competition.
