EMMANUEL Larry, on Friday appeared before a city magistrate on a robbery with violence charge
It was alleged that on April 5, 2018, at Longden Street, Georgetown, Larry robbed Christopher Rambarran of one cellphone worth $ 44,000 and $27, 000 in cash, and used personal violence during the incident.
According to prosecutor Sanj Singh, who objected to bail due to the serious nature of the offence, on the day in question the virtual complainant was walking along Longden Street when he was approached by the defendant who was in the company of others. His valuables were then taken away.
A police officer who was in the vicinity saw the act and held onto the defendant. A search discovered the stolen items in his possession.
It was further alleged that on the same day at Brickdam Police Station while in custody, a further search was conducted on Larry and he was found with 16 grams of cannabis in his possession.
The 23- year-old man who resides at East La Penitence pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Bail was refused and he was remanded to prison by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly; the matter was adjourned for April 27, 2018.
