A 34-year-old woman was stripped and sexually harassed, while her family was terrorised and robbed by four armed men Thursday evening at their Lot 309 Area ‘R’, Ankerville, Port Mourant home.
“They came in,grabbed all the jewellery I was wearing; not satisfied, two of them take me in the bedroom, take the cutlass and cut my clothes while demanding more cash and jewellery,” the woman said in tears.
She went on to say as the men continued their demand for more cash, they threatened to rape her.
At around 19:00hrs, four men armed with cutlasses, Knives and a gun attacked the family while they were in the living room watching television.
The men, who were masked, entered and demanded the family hand over valuables and cash.
According to information received, the men reportedly gained access to the home by cutting a hole in the fence.
Relating the ordeal, the young mother said as the bandits began demanding cash, her family cooperated in an effort to avoid being hurt.
However, they were bent on hurting them with one of the men blurting out, “I just come outta jail, ah need money.”
She went to say, her mother-in-law, 63, was not spared, as she too was roughed up by the gun-toting men.
The mother-in-law told the Guyana Chronicle that the men searched all the rooms and ruthlessly beat her son.
“They were small built and had on some big boots, them kick he up, stomped on he and tek the cutlass and ‘broadside’ he… tie up his hand and feet and tie he mouth with a rag, them carry me in the room and knock me with a wood to my head asking for jewellery and money,” the young mother said.
She also related that one of the men told her they will kill her, saying “she is old, she can die”.
The woman went on to say that while they were being brutalised, the other bandits took the opportunity to search and ransack the house.
They left with eight cell phones, an undisclosed sum of cash and a quantity of jewellery.
The family said they lost close to $2M in the ordeal.
The nine-year-old son of the young mother was left in a state of shock.
“They knock he off he chair and put the cutlass to he and threaten to chop he because they wanted more money,” she said.
Before escaping, the men tied each of them and asked her son for the keys to open the gate, but due to his confused state, he accidentally gave them the wrong keys. The men then jumped the fence and escaped.
A report was made to the police who have since launched an investigation into the matter. No arrest has been made thus far.
