… Buxton United needle Milerock

THE Victoria Kings Football Club made light work of New Amsterdam United 3-0, while Buxton United needled Milerock United (1-0), when action in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League continued on Sunday evening.

Playing at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Camp Ayanganna ground, Victoria Kings’ Aubrey Gibson scored in the first minute against New Amsterdam United to extend his goal-scoring tally to six (the most in the league) while Alden Lawrence netted a double, scoring in the 36th and 66th minute.

The win pushed Victoria Kings to 12 points and on top of the 10-team table from five games, ahead of the GDF, Den Amstel, Western Tigers and Fruta Conquerors.
Keavon Durant’s goal in the 43rd minute also helped Buxton United to their second win in five outings, moving them to six points and sixth on the table.

For Milerock, it was the Linden side’s third defeat (in four games) and the first since their 1-0 win over Cougars FC last week.
Meanwhile, the Elite League will continue on Friday, March 9 at the GFC ground with another double-header.

From 17:30hrs, Cougars will be hunting for their first win this season against a stubborn Western Tigers, while Den Amstel and Fruta Conquerors collide in the second game from 19:30hrs. (Rawle Toney)
