… Vurlon Mills, Abassi McPherson added
THE Georgetown Football Club (GFC) made good use of the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) transfer window, with several top-signing, including that of Golden Jaguars player Vurlon Mills.
Mills, one of Guyana’s most gifted players, had recently signed with Trinidad and Tobago Pro-league outfit San Juan Jabloteh, but Faizal Khan, GFC’s General Manager, told Chronicle Sport “Vurlon will be playing a part in both the playing and coaching side.”
“We had a lot of meetings with sponsors and supporters and we’ve decided to make some signings before the transfer deadlines closed. Vurlon in my opinion is one of the best young coaches coming up in the CFU and still is one of the most feared potent strikers in the land,” Khan pointed out.
Apart from Kareem Knights, GFC also returned Kelsey Benjamin and Ralph Parris on loan from another TT Pro-League side, Morvant Caledonia United, adding, “the level of technical proficiency these two players have gained since their time in the pro-league is extraordinary, their development has excelled at a rapid rate.”
National goalkeeper Alex Murray also made his move to Bourda team, as Khan was keen to highlight: “For me, an absolutely brilliant goalkeeper who has been around the scene for a while now. I was lucky enough to watch Alex play in a number of international fixtures. We’re happy to include Alex in our goalkeeper menu.”
Abassie McPherson, formerly of Alpha United, Khan said, he will add the veteran touch to a young GFC side.
Khan was also singing praises for the club’s sponsors, COPA Airlines and Moo Milk, whom he said played a significant role in helping them put together the side.
GFC, once a member of the GFF’s Elite League, is now back to the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Level, and is hoping to come out on top of the league, especially with last year’s winner Western Tigers moving to the country’s top-flight league.
