CITY Magistrate Judy Latchman on Monday committed two men to stand trial in the High Court for the murder of 34-year-old Rawle Rodriguez, who was killed during a robbery at the Route 40 minibus park last year.
After the conclusion of the Preliminary Inquiry, the magistrate ruled that a prima facie case was established against the two accused and committed the duo for the capital offence.
Afabia Yankana and Akeem Hayman were jointly charged for the murder of Rodriguez during the course of a robbery on January 20, 2017 at Croal Street, Stabroek.
According to reports, on the said date, Rodriguez was stabbed to his chest during a robbery at the Route 40 minibus park along Croal Street, Stabroek by three men. The men had allegedly trailed Rodriguez from the Demico Roof Garden where he was earlier seen consuming alcohol.
Last December, 25-year-old Wayne Gilbert of West La Penitence was also charged and remanded for the murder of Rodriguez. He is currently awaiting a date for the commencement of a Preliminary Inquiry into the matter.
