Man found dead in Lusignan trench

THE body of an East Coast Demerara (ECD) man was on Tuesday afternoon discovered in a trench in Area ‘H’, Lusignan, ECD, after he reportedly fell overboard after a bout of rum- drinking.

Dead is 50-year-old Sookdeo Deonarine, a welder of Lot 428 Good Hope, Mahaica, ECD. Information reaching the Guyana Chronicle reveals that Deonarine was leaving on his bicycle from a house in Area ‘H’ where it was customary for him to drink, when he somehow ended up in the small trench.

According to the man’s wife, Chandrewattee Doodnaught, the body was discovered around 12:00hrs by a passerby diagonal to the house from where he had emerged.

Meanwhile, the man’s bicycle could be seen approximately two feet away from where his body was laid after being fished out of the trench. The police were at the scene and an investigation has been set in motion to confirm Deonarine’s cause of death. Deonarine is survived by three children.
