A Grant 1802 Crabwood Creek man is on the run after torching his home, leaving his wife and three children homeless.

According to information received, at around 13:00 hrs on New Year’s Day, Shazam Silvanesh, 31, was involved in an argument with his wife Shameeza
Silvanesh, 27, when he made the awful decision

The woman told Guyana Chronicle that her husband accused her of having a relationship with his cousin who often rescues her when she is abused by him.

Prior to the fire on January 1, Shameeza related that her husband brutally beat her and kicked her down the stairs while she was pregnant.

It was during this time the cousin of the husband came to her aid and took her and the children in for safety.

The woman also noted that her husband even told the probation officer that he no longer wants her and she is free to move on with his cousin.

However, a family member of the cousin later brought her back to her husband where they lived for a few days until New Year’s Day when he went berserk.

“Me and he was home alone. He was drinking and he see the bai passing and call he in for a drink, so he cousin tell he, ‘look you and your wife live’ and he gon go away and he walk go away. When he left meh husband grab me and beat me up and tear up all meh clothes, then he rush after he cousin Nehaul. After me collapse, me see Nehaul come pick me up and carry me out the track and when we was going out somebody holler fire.”

Shameeza said when she looked back she saw the house engulfed in flames.

“I run back to go in to see if he still in there and to save them children paper but he jump put the window and run away and somebody pull me out the house,” the mother of three related.

She was unable to save anything and is now staying at a family’s house.

“Them children nah get nothing, no clothes and school ah start Monday. All them paper bun up.”

The mother is seeking help from the public to send two of her children, ages four and nine to school. Interested persons can contact Shameeza on cellphone number 603-9703.

Police have launched an investigation into the fire and are searching for Shazam who is on the run.
