Botofago boot out Shattas
– Rockers blast Eagles United

BOTOFAGO and Net Rockers will clash in the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) GT Beer finals, following contrasting wins in the semifinals on Friday evening. Botofago shattered the hearts of defending champions, Silver Shattas, while Net Rockers blew past Eagles United at the Mackenzie sports Club ground.

Playing in the first game, Botofago and Shattas played to a 2-2 stalemate after regulation and extra period play failed to separate the two.Jamine Samuels had sent the eventual winners into the lead in the 49th minute after a scoreless first half, but Jamal Haynes would equalize through an 88th minute strike, as the game ended in regulation time 1-1.

However, after extra period play was ordered, the scores would change in the 102nd minute with Wesley Hall putting Botofago up, 2-1 Seven minute later, the scores would be level again, thanks to an own goal, with penalties yielding victory by the slimmest of margins.The second game saw the running Net Rockers, led by a Shane Luckie hat-trick, scored in the 53rd, 56th and 58th minutes, blow away Eagles United.

Clarence Huggins in the 66th minute added the final nail in the coffin, but Yannick Simon saved face for the Eagles by adding his strike to the scoreline, which read 4-1 at the final whistle.The final and third place play off will take place on New Year’s day.
