Dear Editor,
KINDLY permit me to respond to Freddie Kissoon’s article in the Kaieteur News, titled “On Christmas Eve, I saw reason why this man may leave Guyana,” dated the December 28, 2017. On the day in question, I did tell Mr. Freddie Kissoon very jokingly that I may leave Guyana with my family on the completion of my studies. The reason I said to Mr. Kissoon is because I do not subscribe to the belief of sharing plans and dreams with persons before they come through. I think it would be impolite to remind Mr. Kissoon that it is very unethical to quote someone who jokingly gave him information.
Mr. Editor from the first minute this article was published, a number persons — home and abroad– contacted me expressing grave disquiet over this article and in the process labelled me, and justifiably so, as being ungrateful towards the beautifully led APNU+AFC coalition government. I have learnt my lessons from this and I have asked for their forgiveness in this festive season, for sharing of a Christmas joke with Mr. Kissoon. Apologies are also extended to thousands of other fair-minded Guyanese who are witnessing the vast development and transformation of our paradise Guyana under this APNU+AFC government.
I wish to state very categorically that I have confidence in the APNU+AFC government and I verily believe that the coalition government is the best choice for Guyana. I did believe and continue to believe that the APNU+AFC government will continue to create the enabling environment for our citizens to maximise their potential regardless of race, colour, creed and political affiliation.
I did believe and continue to believe that the government will continue to create a forum where the unrealised potential of our citizens would continue to unfold into reality. As we edge closer towards His Excellency President Granger’s vision of a ‘Good life for all Guyanese,’ we must guard zealously against complacency and connect more with ordinary citizens of Guyana who are eagerly awaiting this reality. We must find innovative ways to prevent our citizens from jumping on the train that is already in motion to unjustifiably market Guyana as one of the most backward countries in the hemisphere.
Regards
Carlyle Goring
