TWO minibus operators were on Friday charged and appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for Breach of Insurance and permitting breach of insurance respectively.
Orin Alert and Kerwin Deane, both of Bartica, were arrested on December 16, pleaded guilty, and fined $25,000 each.

Alert, 35, of Lot 24 Fifth Avenue, Bartica was also suspended from driving for the next six months, whilst Deane, 26, of 1½ Miles Potato Road, Bartica has been suspended from driving for 12 months.
Alert was found driving minibus BVV 4872 when his name was not on the insurance, while Deane, who is the designated driver of the vehicle, allowed Alert to drive it, knowing that his name was not on the insurance policy.
Meanwhile, Steve King, 35, a miner of Lot 32, Sixth Avenue, Bartica was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on December 23, while driving motorcar PTT 25.

He pleaded guilty, was fined $7,500 and had his license suspended for 12 months.
In February, King was charged with the same offence, was fined, and had his driver’s licence endorsed.
