A BRAZILIAN man was on Tuesday shot dead at Dukwarie, a mining community located in the Cuyuni, Region Seven, after a peacemaker attempted to part an argument the Brazilian had with his wife, police said Wednesday.
The shooting took place at about 10:00hrs and according to initial information, the man and his wife operated a shop in the community.
The duo had an argument and in a bid to be a peacemaker, a member of a private security service who was armed with a shotgun intervened.
The Brazilian man who was also armed, but with a cutlass, rebuffed the man. It was during that time that the firearm was discharged resulting in the Brazilian’s death.
The security officer is in custody assisting the police with the investigation.
