THE Bina Hill Institute in the North Rupununi is set to expand its capacity as five major projects are being undertaken at the youth learning centre.
Mike Williams, Vice-chair of the North Rupununi District Development Board (NRDDB), the body under which the institution falls, told the Guyana Chronicle this week that the projects are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2018.
They include the construction of male and female dormitories which are expected to cater for 60 students. That project commenced recently and a timeline for its completion may see it being finished by January 2018.
In addition, water trestles, a workshop as well as new teacher’s quarters are being constructed at the Region Nine institute.
Williams said the roof of the main building at the institute is set to undergo a facelift and its roof is expected to be refurbished.
He said the projects are all funded by the Government of Guyana.
The Bina Hill Institute was established in 2001 as an institution that focuses on training hinterland youth in several fields, including natural resource management, forestry, wildlife management, agriculture, tourism, business studies, life skills, traditional skills, basic computer skills, mathematics, English and leadership training.
