MPI wins rangoli competition

THE Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation (CJIAC) was Monday adjudged winner of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure’s first-ever rangoli competition, held in the compound of the Works Services Group, Kingston.

CJIAC beat out fierce competition from three other agencies under the Ministry — the Works Services Group, the Guyana Energy Agency, and the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, who earned second, third, and fourth, respectively.

In explaining the rationale behind the design, the CJIAC team said that the members wanted to represent the beginning of life, benevolence, patience, and compassion, as shown in the lotus and peacock.
The ministry’s rangoli competition came on the eve of Diwali, which will be celebrated today across Guyana.
