COMMUNICATIONS provider Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GTT) has announced a 10K/5K walk as part of its celebrations for Cancer Awareness Month.

Pinktober, as they are calling the month of celebrations will feature a number of activities with the walk, set for October 21, being touted as the feature event.
During yesterday morning’s launch, the company stated that as part of their lead-up to the walk, they have organised special group training sessions in the National Park.
Training days are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be done by renowned local coach Leslie Black.
According to Black, whose daughter passed away as a result of cancer at the age of 22, he was hesitant at first having received the call from the mobile service provider.
However, when he heard the initiative and what it was going to be for, he immediately offered his services.
Black noted, “If we realise what it is and how secretive this demon is (cancer), we can try to detect it.”
Persons can register for the walk online at gtt.co.gy/cancerwalk for $2000 vat inclusive.
Registration for the walk will permit persons to have a free T-shirt, three days of free mobile data, a $500 donation to the Guyana Cancer Foundation and a ticket to either of three concerts featuring either gospel, reggae or dancehall artists. (Stephan Sookram)
