TWO exciting matches scheduled for tonight at the MSC ground
THE Hamilton Green Cup Knock-Out football tournament will continue this evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground with a double-header beginning at 19:00hrs.
The tournament will involve two of the mining community’s top teams coming up against a team from neighbouring Kuru Kururu and another from Plaisance, a member of the East Demerara Football Association.
The feature game which is scheduled for a 21:00hrs start will see home side Milerock square off against Plaisance, while in the opening fixture; Winners Connection of Linden take on Kuru Kururu of the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
For the opening game, the hosts (Winners Connection) will be hoping to take advantage of their home turf and will be relying heavily on their star strikers, Marley Davidson and Rawle Gittens, with over-lapping midfielder Keon Sears lending support.
The defence will be marshalled by Derrol Dainty and Alan Garnett while Shakell Frank will be on duty between the uprights.
For Kuru Kururu, goalkeeper Joshua George will be the last line of defence and is expected to get support from defenders Joseph Walker and Catio Sttholpe.
Over-lapping midfielders Kester Alleyne and Kester Fraser will lend support to Cordel Johnson and Michael Charles who will both be on the strike line.
For the feature game between Milerock and Plaisance, Milerock will be hoping that strikers Juel McKinnon and Kevin Beaton come good and they are expected to get valuable support from midfielders Denzil Fordyce, Nellon Walcott and Lawrenso Copeland.
The defence will be marshalled by Colrick Beckles and Oswald Benjamin with Jonathan Copeland doing duties between the uprights.
The opposition’s (Plaisance) attack will be spearheaded by Vincent Thomas with support from midfielders Keon Kyte, Oneal Clarke and Akeem Thomas.
Manning the defence will be Travis Simon and Javid Mohamed.
The tournament will continue on Friday, September 15, with another double-header at the same venue when Silver Shattas tacklie Riddim Squad in the opening game from 19:00hrs and Eagles United challenge Soesdyke from 21:00hrs.
