–Businessman hails Rose Hall youth club for its exemplary community service
THE Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTYSC) and its CEO, Mr Hilbert Foster have been highly commended for their yeoman service to the community in the area of sports.
The commendation came from Chief Executive Officer of KSM Investments, Mr Mahadeo Panchu, on Sunday during a function at the club’s Area ‘H’ Ground headquarters.
Panchu described the Club as an outstanding organisation, and Foster as a great Guyanese who has made a positive difference in the lives of countless of his fellow countrymen.
He said his company was not only pleased to be associated with the Club, but was so impressed with its achievements that he, without hesitation, approved its request for sponsorship for the RHTYSC/Kares Engineering Inc Patron’s ‘Green’ Economy softball tournament.
KSM Investments reportedly came on board as an official sponsor of the tournament by contributing a financial donation, and sponsoring the purchase of 52 Polo T/Shirts for the four semi-finalist teams.
The businessman used the opportunity to announce, to the delight of his audience, that his company will continue to support the RHTYSC in the future, and to appeal to the leadership of other like-minded organisations to emulate Foster, so that youths across Guyana can benefit from whatever they have to offer.
KSM and the RHTYSC’s eight cricket teams are to shortly join forces to do some upgrading work around the Rose Hall Town Monument, which was erected in honour of the 57 freed slaves who, in 1842, pooled their resources to purchase the former plantation.
Captain of the winning Grill Master Team, Roy Jaferally, also praised the outstanding work of the RHTYSC under Foster’s stewardship, and even went as far as to say that the tournament was one of the best that has ever been organised in Guyana.
In response, a clearly humble Foster said that while he was appreciative of the kind words of praise, he could not have done it without the help of Club members, as it’s all about team effort.
