MAYOR of Georgetown Patricia Chase-Green has completely recused herself from the parking meter project, saying it is a matter for the full Council to deal with.
She told reporters on Thursday at City Hall that the Council has not yet resolved the issues with the project and stressed she has no personal interest in the project.
“I have no personal interest and it was taken with the full Council; they will vote on it, it is not in my hands and the chairman presented the report but they are still working out issues.”
She related that the full report on the parking meter project will be posted at all public places and suggestions can be made after which voting will take place at a special meeting.
The government in March this year suspended the Parking Meter by-laws, by-laws No 1 of 2017, which allow for a metered parking system in Georgetown.
The move by the administration follows a recommendation by Cabinet for City Hall and Smart City Solutions (SCS) to suspend the Metered Parking System for a period of 90 days.
The suspension order was signed by Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan.
