PRESIDENT David Granger has met with members of the Guyana Council of Organisations for Persons with Disabilities (GCOPD), who sought his assistance in carrying out their mandate.
The team, which was led by president of the organisation, Leon Walcott and included Cecil Morris and Theresa Pemberton, was asked by the Head of state to prepare a budget, which he will personally present to Cabinet for consideration.
The GCOPD currently has a membership of 20 organisations. Unlike the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, which deals more with policy-related issues, this council interfaces directly with persons with disabilities across the country.
