A 26-year-old mentally ill man was on Wednesday sentenced to three months imprisonment by City Magistrate, Fabayo Azore, for wounding his mother.
Timothy Thompson confessed that on August 03 at Lot 1936 Humming- Bird Street, North Ruimveldt, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded, his mother, Harriet Thompson.
According to reports, on the day in question the 26-year-old man broke a glass cup, then picked up a piece of the shattered glass and went into his mother bedroom and attempted to cut her neck.
“I would kill yuh” Thompson reportedly told his mother while approaching her with the broken glass.
Thompson told the court that his mother would have him out on the street. The magistrate sentenced Thompson to three months imprisonment during which he will also be subjected to psychiatric treatment.
