A 42-year-old vendor accused of beating his brother with a piece of wood during a heated argument over a plot of land, was on Wednesday remanded to prison by City Magistrate, Fabayo Azore, on a charge of wounding.
It is alleged that Rajesh Pollard on August 06, 2017 at Kingston, Georgetown, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Sunil Pollard. The father of three denied the allegation.
Police Prosecutor, Simone Payne objected to the accused being released on bail since the victim is still hospitalised. Pollard’s attorney, Paul Fung-a-Fat in an application for bail told the court that Sunil Pollard is an alcoholic and on the day in question during a heated argument, Sunil broke a glass bottle and was advancing towards Rajesh but ended up injuring himself.
However, the prosecutor explained to court that the incident stemmed for an argument over ‘children property’ during which Rajesh armed himself with a piece of wood and lashed his brother, Sunil about his body.
The Magistrate ruled in the prosecution favour and remanded Rajesh Pollard until August 16.
