THREE men who were recently arrested at a road block on the western side of the Demerara Harbour Bridge were remanded to prison when they appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool charged with robbery under arms and possession of firearm and ammunition.

It is alleged that on June 27, 2017 Shawn Welch, 43, of Lot 81 Castillo Housing Scheme , Collin 27, of Lot 169 Middle Street, La Penitence and Alford 25, of Lot 289 Independence Boulivar, Georgetown robbed Thukurdutt Narine of West Minister House Scheme , West Bank Demerara over $1 million in cash and jewellery to which they denied that allegation.

The men also denied that on June 30 they were in possession of one 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 5 live matching rounds. The men were remanded to prison until the 17 July 2017.
