DENNIS Brewster, 56, of Squatting Area Victory Valley, Wismar was on Wednesday sentenced to three years in prison for narcotics trafficking when he appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse, at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
On September 27, 2016, about 07:15hrs, acting upon information received, ranks from Mackenzie Police Station went to the home of unemployed Dennis Brewster to conduct a search.
On arrival, he was seen coming out of his front door walking down the stairs with a bulky black plastic bag.
Upon seeing the ranks, he dropped the bag on the ground and attempted to escape. The ranks gave chase and he was apprehended. The bag was retrieved and upon examining its content, ranks discovered it contained 170 grams of cannabis.
Brewster was subsequently charged with trafficking in narcotics, to which he pleaded not guilty.
He made his first court appearance at the Wales Magistrate’s Court. The matter was transferred to the Linden Magistrate Court and during the course of trial he was found guilty.
