CUSTOMERS can now access their Guyana Power and Light (GPL) billing information from their mobile devices as the power company recently launched what it has described as an “easy-to-use facility to retrieve your current electricity bill information- SMS Freedom”.
With SMS freedom customers have to text their reference number to GPL numbers 624-0400 or 608-8400 and within one minute, the customer will receive a response via text with their current bill amount and due date, as well as their last payment amount and payment date.

In a statement to the media on Thursday, the power company said “SMS Freedom” service “is fast and simple, works with any mobile phone and can be conveniently used by customers any time”.
Each customer’s reference number is constant and printed on their monthly bills.
“GPL is working to provide its customers with improved customer services. This initiative allows customers anywhere, across the country to swiftly get their billing information when they need it,” the statement added.
