‘West’ man in court for robbing Qualfon workers

A 29-YEAR-OLD West La Penitence resident charged with 11 counts of robbery under arms was on Monday remanded to prison by City Magistrate Judy Latchman.

It is alleged that Quincy Clark on May 12, at North-East La Penitence, while being in the company of others armed with guns stuck-up a Qualfon bus and robbed its passengers.

Eleven persons were robbed during the ordeal and $628,100 in total were taken away from their persons. The victims are: Jennifer Haynes, Candy Cole, Shamain David, Mark McLoud, Colincia Facey, Jamol Glasgow, Damani Victoria, Randy Jordon, Akesha Taylor, Niketa Ward and Tamika Hangover . Clark denied all of the charges as they were read to him.

Police Prosecutor, Shawn Gonzales told the court that the accused, when arrested by the police, confessed to the crime in a caution statement. He also pointed out that Clark was charged in 2016 for simple larceny.

Gonzales objected to the accused being released on bail on the grounds that a gun was used in the commission of the crime, the nature, gravity and prevalence of the offence. The Magistrate ruled in the prosecution’s favour and remanded the accused until June 12.
