The Guyana Police Force has recorded a 4% decrease in serious crimes at the end of April 2017 relative to the same period last year.
Statistics released by the Force revealed that there was a 34% decrease in murder; a 5% decrease in robberies with no instruments used; a 1% decrease in robbery under arms where firearms were used; a 1% decrease in rape; a 4% decrease in burglary; an 18% decrease in break and enter and larceny; a 63% increase in larceny from the person; a 22% increase in robbery with aggravation; a 95% increase in robbery with violence and a 5% increase in robbery under arms where instruments other than firearms were used.
The 35 murders were broken down into the following categories:
Disorderly – 20
Domestic – 04
Robbery – 05
Execution – 03
Unknown – 02
Others – 01
Firearms Seized
Forty-five (45) illegal firearms have so far been seized for this year; twenty-two (22) more than the corresponding period for last year.
