A 21-year-old miner of Puruni Landing, Region Seven, who was wanted by police for allegedly stealing his mother’s laptop computer was arrested Saturday morning at the Itaballi checkpoint with a bag containing 530 grams of cannabis.

Shortly after his arrest the suspect bolted to freedom, having managed to free himself from the ranks; but his dash to freedom was short-lived,since he was recaptured soon after. Now he faces a charge of Escaping from Lawful Custody, in addition to those expected to be instituted against him (Simple Larceny and Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking).
