STANISLAUS Clement appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Tuesday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, charged with the murder of his friend.
The 24-year-old Lethem miner was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that on April 5, 2017, at 111 Mile, Cuyuni River, he murdered 30-year-old Regional Charles called ‘Short man.’
Clement was unrepresented and was remanded to prison until April 12, 2017 when he will appear before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.
According to reports on the day in question, Clemet and Charles were at a shop consuming alcohol when a heated argument ensued. Clemet allegedly became annoyed, broke a bottle and stabbed his friend. The victim managed to run to the Mahdia Hospital where he succumbed, while receiving medical attention.
